Born
twenty-eight years ago in Bixby, Oklahoma, our young Coop was taken under
the spell of Mad Magazine, Hot Wheels toys, Speed Racer and old Warner
Bros. cartoons. As a teenager, he caught his first glimpse of The Ramones,
and was consequently immersed in the punk rock scene. Artistically, this
led to the discovery of underground comics and the work of his future
idol, Robert Williams. At nineteen, Coop moved to Los Angeles and began
his career doing covers for the record industry and illustrations for
Hustler Magazine. Since then, he has been cranking out the precious,
limited edition, silk-screened, rock show posters that adorn the walls of
the coolest homes nationwide. Coop's vision, custom built for speed and
desire, flaming and fetishist, is the quintessence of Southern California
car culture distilled through punk rock aggression and grunge angst. |
